Country Music Series | Joe's Pub at The Public Theater
March 14 and 15, 2008
• Southern Comfort
Hosted by Monica Bill Barnes and Deborah Lohse

Dancenow|NYC's DancemOpolitan presents Southern Comfort , hosted by the dynamic and hilarious Monica Bill Barnes and Deborah Lohse. Choreographers Gina Gibney, John Heginbotham, Paul Singh, Zach Morris, Jason and Lindsey Dietz, Mary Ann Wall, Amber Sloan, among others will offer a wide range of work inspired by country music stars and legends, Johnnie Cash, Tom Waits, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, The Useless Bastards and more, including live music by The Dang-It Boys.

Dancenow|NYC's new country music series follows the overwhelming success its rock n' roll series, Thrash n 'Rock [June 2006], Fraulein Maria based on The Sound of Music [December 2006 and 2007] and its latin music series, Mojito [March 2007]. Elizabeth Zimmer, free lance writer and long-time dance editor of The Village Voice wrote, “Finding ways to breach the "closed system" of the Downtown dance community has been a specialty of Dancenow |NYC since its founding in 1995. Dance Mojito, the sparkling and most recent installment of Dancemopolitan presented this past weekend at Joe's Pub demonstrates just how successful its strategies are.” Gay City News, 2007.
