COVID -19 Resources

While many of us crave to be in the studio or the theater more than ever today, we urge you to stay home and follow the recommendations of social distancing. In the long run, this will help strengthen and build our community. 

Some recommendations and resources for dancers and freelance artists:





DANCE NOW's Director of Programming, Ariane Michaud,  will be holding 'virtual office hours' for artists between 2pm-4pm EST (free of charge). Since the roster of DANCE NOW artists and alumni have various degrees of administrative support, we want to utilize our team's expertise (and extra time!) to support our community during these unusual circumstances. 

Here are things that we can assist with: 


  • Sign up if you just want to talk! This is a time when you can share how you have been impacted by COVID-19. We are also happy to share updates about DANCE NOW productions, the festival, or any other questions you may have about our community and our programming. 

  • Helping with organizational and administrative setup: many of you have had to translate in-person processes online, and as a remote team, DANCE NOW can definitely help with these transitions! 

  • Consulting/advice on marketing, fundraising, social media, grant writing, budget creation, website creation, newsletters, etc. In 45 minutes, we can create a game plan for you to tackle any number of these projects during your time at home. 

  • Anything else pertaining to the functioning (and thriving) of you/your company. We are not super-human, but the DANCE NOW team has collectively gathered more than a few years of expertise, and we want support in any way that we can. If there is something that we, specifically, can not help with, we will do our best to connect you to the right person. 





Recent updates from the NYC Gov: 


The Administration is keenly aware of the impact COVID-19 and that Executive Order are having on our field.  In an early effort to begin to address relief, New York City Small Business Services (SBS) has launched a grants program to help retain employees in small businesses, including smaller nonprofits.


Be sure to check eligibility requirements before you submit an application.  This program is designed for NYC organizations, that have been in operation at least 6 months, have no liens or legal judgments pending, have from 1-4 employees on payroll (full or parttime) and can demonstrate at least a 25% decrease in revenue as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.  The maximum grant will be $27K.
